The Dripping Sound from Distance

(A part of “EGO-NOMIC: LIFE IN A PLASTICOSPHERE” at Jing Jai Gallery)

We believe that distance is a key factor when it comes to how someone views and appreciates a subject.
In this installation, we filled glass containers with water that can change into whirlpools by themselves when there is a change in distance between the installation and the audience.

When the audience stands far enough, the installation will make a soothing, dripping sound. The audience can enjoy the sound and the light. But if they come too close, the installation will stop making the sound, and the color of the light will change. At this point, the water will also change itself into a whirlpool.

We hope this project can help people realize that everything can be affected by a slight change in distance.
